A Formula for Success
In 2001, I sat down with my wife Lisa and we put together the beginnings of Dream Maker Enterprises.
And like all new and excited ventures we wanted to come up with a catchy slogan or statement that we could be remembered by. Have you ever done this?
Well I started reading some of the great books that covered subjects like, how to develop your USP (Unique Selling Position), how to create a slogan that gets remembered, and all that kind of stuff.
When I sat back and thought about it, I thought to myself, "This is all rubbish".
People don't care about cute phrases or catchy slogans. They care about what's in it for them. They want a guiding light. A philosophy they can live by. A formula for success.
So what is it?
Well I thought to myself, "Let's begin where it all begins". So I did. Then I had Step 1. It was so obvious. Because everything begins with thought, it had to be "Thoughts".
But wait a minute... it can't just be any type of thoughts can it? So there it was...
... Think BIG!
The next thing I did was work out what naturally has to follow. What really was the obvious step 2?
And then it hit me like a tonne of bricks.. Boom!
Most people think big but never really do anything about it. So they obvious answer was they have to act on their thoughts. When you think of a big goal you must then act. But will any type of action do? No! So the next step was...
...Act BOLD!
But wait a minute...
... this doesn't complete the full picture.
I sat thinking about all of the people who have thought big, and have acted bold and become incredibly successful... yet died of a heart attack in their forties and fifties. I knew the formula wasn't complete. Where was the missing link? And then the formula almost magically completed itself. Here it is...
