The Winning Line of Life - Makybe Diva

On November 1st 2005, the horse racing world erupted with a history making run from one of the world's greatest horses.

Makybe Diva became the first ever horse to win the richest handicap race in the world. the Melbourne Cup for the 3rd time in a row.

Now rated alongside champions such as Phar Lap, many would argue that this is an even greater achievement. Phar Lap only ever won Melbourne Cup once but held an astonishing 36 wins from 50 starts. Makybe Diva has an impressive 16 wins from 36 starts. But to win the Melbourne Cup 3 times in a row in a lifespan of racing that usually lasts less than 4-5 years is truly incredible. She is like the Lance Armstrong of horses.

So what can you and I learn from this?

What amazed me from the after-race interviews was the jockey and the trainer. The human element. It is 2 secrets of success I see in all highly success people.

Here's what you can learn from them.

1. Jockey - Glenn Boss

Here's what he did -

During the race Glenn Boss had certainty. He said after the race, "I knew that nothing was going to come from behind and beat her.'' You know that feeling where you are just certain of success?

After the race. he expressed total gratitude towards everyone involved.

He took none of the credit and instead thanked Makybe Diva, the trainer Lee Freedman and the support Team.

He was humble, emotionally moved and excited all rolled into one.

This beautiful combination is the real key to successful champions. Look back through history and you will find a number of people who have achieved success in all types of fields. Financial success, sporting success and celebrity status.

Who are the ones we remember as great? How can you become like these champions?

Exercise immense gratitude.

Become grateful for everything you have in your life. The challenges, the successes. The people who touch your life every day. Be grateful for the opportunities you have.

But here's the real key to knowing you are a grateful person with champion like qualities...

You express gratitude before you reach your goal. You express gratitude for just getting the idea. Be grateful you can hold onto the dream, the goal and the vision for this is where all success begins.

As soon as you express gratitude for someone you harmonize with Universal Law and your subconscious mind has already begun attracting it.

2. The Trainer - Lee Freedman

Lee was so calm ad so relaxed after the race you could be excused for wondering if he actually saw the race and knew what just happened.

But he was relaxed because he truly believed Makybe Diva was going to win. He could see it. He had an air of confidence about him.

In short, his self-image had adjusted to the success. He expected to win. He knew what to do having won the race 2 years running.

Now even though he was attempting the "impossible", he knew he had done the job. He knew what preparation goes into a Melbourne Cup winner and he just did it.

In fact, after the race Lee even went as far as to say, " She didn't have the greatest preparation but it was enough."

You can do the same. Find someone who is achieving the results you would like and run with them. You don't have to do more than them but you do have to do "Enough". If you do the same things you can expect the same sort of results.

See yourself crossing the winning line of life. Believe in yourself and get comfortable with the idea of being a "Winner" and before long, you will be one. And when you "BE" a winner you naturally achieve the results of a "Winner".

Congratulations to Makybe Diva, Glenn Boss, Lee Freedman and thank you for the inspirational lesson.
