Copywriting Fees
Projects range from $10,000 to $30,000 plus royalty …but I'll wear 70% of the risk
30% upfront - Minimum $3,000 upfront
70% paid when it succeeds in the marketplace (negotiable but usually break even or better - you should have a back end to profit from)
Note - if you absolutely must profit on the front end you will often need some Business Growth Advice included in your package - talk to me about your options.
Royalty - % of gross (negotiable but usually gross sales, gross leads or gross distribution or a creative combination of the above)
Research may be included or extra (depending on project)
Simple. Because any copywriter with a history of creating profitable ad copy charges a royalty. Poor copywriters never do. The majority of a copywriters income is not from the upfront - it is from the back end sales or leads it drives to your business.
But not only that... it helps keep the involvement of your copywriter.
Often times a copywriter who has been earning good royalties from work they have completed, will go back and re-write for free to try and improve your sales and increase their royalty cheques even more.
You get free upgrades on your copy. New campaigns involve new upfront fees and a chance to re-negotiate royalties. But getting existing copy tweaked is a powerful way to grow your business.
